    Default Lotus question

I got my first lotus this year - Grand Slam. Are these a bit slower to start growing than regular hardy water lilies? My water lilies are kicking into a good growth mode right now, but the lotus is kind of inching along.

Maybe the water temp isn't high enough yet? I thought I read somewhere that these need really warm water to grow well.

For you folks in the South, remember I'm in MN. We have only hit 80 F a few times this year.

    Kev,
As long as it is inching along, it should be OK..Yes, they do prefer warmer water, and you saw how far along ours is...your growing season is probaly 3-4 weeks behind mine.....we have hit 88 several times !
Have patience..it will be worth the wait !

:duh: OK, I won't look at it every hour.

The first leaves hit the surface of the water today. That's usually a good sign.

I'll say it is! Ours here is putting out new surface leaves, but no pointy ones yet coming out of the water, so blooming is still a ways away, I think. It hit 99 here today....
