Default My first successful pollination ever I Think ??? - Vanda

Well I have been trying to cross pollinate several orchids for a while now but have always been unsuccessful and now i think i have managed it.
If these are viable i will be sending them off for flasking when they ripen.
The two Vandas I recently bought had fresh flowers so two weeks ago i cross pollinated them both the purple one didnt accept (well im still awaiting to see if it swells) But the pink one has started to swell.
Of course being new to Vandas i could be totally wrong and the flowers could just be dieing off but im sure someone can put me straight.
i would also appreciate if i could definate IDs on these i have had suggestions for them but nothing definate and now it may be getting a seed pod i would like to be as near as certain as i can for the names. if anyone can help and needs a picture of a certain angle or view i will be happy to provide one.

Looks like a pod forming to me, although I've never seen a vanda seed pod. Pods can, however, die suddenly before maturing, and I've sent pods off for flasking and been told that they didn't have viable seeds. Congrats!!

    Thanks Janet.
I hope they are viable given the time they will probably take to fully ripen. But if they dont mature or are not viable seeds then at least i managed the first stage correctly. Cant wait to see what they will look like either if i do manage to get viable seed and get a flowering plant in 8yrs time lol

Yeah! Making your own cross is exciting. I lucked out my very first time, then had some problems with other attempts. Right now I have growing out a cross between a mini-purple and brabantiae, and a cross between mini-purple and jiminey cricket. I've had one sort of boring bloom from the first cross and the babies from the second one are still way too small to even think about blooming.

Nice one Janet. When i get a bit more time i will try some other crosses but i will be learning a bit more about the process first before i do so i can try and make crosses that will definatly be an advancement for the Orchid rather than a conquest for me. I think i need to retire just so i can spend all the time in the world with orchids instead. They have really brought the quest for knowledge and understanding about them out in me :-)

I sure hope it is a pod, but I can not tell you. Don't have any experience with it.

Looks like a pod forming to me.

Once my Neostylis opens, I think I am going to pollinate it with a Chrisandra hybrid.
