Okay...let me translate, since I know what Aaron is saying, but perhaps you all don't!

We flasked two crosses of the same two parents, with Lc. Mildred Rives as the mother (forming the pod) in one case, and with Catt. gaskelliana as the mother (forming the pod) in the other case. MR x gas, and then, gas x MR.

The we knew the Mildred Rives MR for short seeds were sterile within the pod. The gaskelliana gas for short pod had a puncture and we had to sterilize those seeds once they were scraped out of the pod. We weren't entirely sure how long to keep them in ethanol, and we may have sterilized them into the afterlife. That's why we're anxious to see germination there. Also, I'm anxious because I think that pod parent will make for a prettier flower.

So the MR pod seeds look like they're germintating, and the gas pod seeds are still uncertain and remain worrisome.

Many thanks to the Minster of Silly Flasking for this update and his continued diligence!!!

Unfortunatly there wouldn't be much to see in a photo (except the flasks themselves). Once things start to get going to the poitn that individual green spots are discernable, I'll snap a few pics and upload them.

    Hey Aaron,

What are you seeing, or imagining your seeing in both crosses of flasks?

That's a good question. We'd talked about it. But Aaron's the Minister of Silly Flasking, because he has solid experience with home flasking and replating. I have none. I felt more comfortable with him handling this end of the growth cycle. Since this is an unnamed cross, it would be neat if we get seedlings to survive through till first blooming, which is when you that is, me can name the cross.

I thought the chances were much greater of that happening, if we stuck to our respective strengths. Hence Aaron is the nursery school.

So far, so good for the pod parent MR, appears to be getting a little greener by the day. The gas flasks on the other hand still look like nothing is going on...yet.
