We've got a nice guide (at least I like it) as a sticky at the top of the forum. But I'll give you a direct link to it as well. It's got some great pretty pics from LJA, and you can see some of the tools I use when I pollinate. Scroll down to FAQ #4.

Sorry I haven't been around more often, BTW. I know I've said that before, but it's still true.

Sorry Colin, but I really do pollinate my orchids with my finger. I remove the pollina, carefully balance it on my fingertip and then stuff it up the other plant's...column.

Hope that was good for you, too!

My favorite tool is my finger. No kidding. I know what it sounds like, but really...I did it manually. So to speak.

The flower needs to be as fresh as possible. If you want to pollinate it, forget about squeezing those last joyous moments from the bloom - it may not take.

Those Frakenstein dreams of glory may not be destined for greatness. If the chromosome count of the genera you wish to cross don't match, you're exercising your finger or whatever for naught. That's why we don't have LaelioPaphidiums. Choose carefully, or don't hold your breath!

Good luck in your orchid sex lives!

Well, self crosses aren't nearly as interesting as hybrid crosses, so I go for the hybrids whenever I can...
