    Angry Cattleya eye

Oh, darn. Repotted my cattleya today, and trying to get all the old mix out of the roots, I broke off a new eye growing on the end of the rhizome. I pasted fungicide on the remaining part. Will a new eye grow next to this one.

Good move with the fungicide.Don't despair there is always a reserve eye on the p-bulb, usually on the other side of the same node or even on the node above it. But these reserve eye(s) will take a longer time to develop than the normal one.

Recently, when we moved, I knocked at least five or six new growths off. They have all come along nicely with new growths. I use cinnamon on the break and keep the area dry for a few days.

Bummer but something that I think has happened to pretty much anyone who has grown catts for any length of time.

Yes, if nothing else, orchids teach us patience.
