The orchid is in a 8 inch pot. The flower stalk is 8 inches tall. Here is the latest photo 7 days later.
I have never seen a single inflorescence like this before. Won't be too long now.

it definitely has the bifoliate form with a Laelia spike. I can't wait to see it.

I had forgotten about the very bifoliate Cattleya-like plants of Epi. ciliare and similar types. You might be onto something.

This is a very sloooooooooooooooow blooming orchid, and a little bit camera shy, the buds seem to be drooping when I take their photo. I know I'm acting like a mother hen, waiting for her brood to hatch, but I haven't seen a flower before on this orchid. So every day I check the progress.

Size: 28.7 KBOkay, here it is. It opened this morning, I went out to check, as we were going away for a week, and I thought it is going to open it's bud while I was away. Could anybody still tell me what it is? Flower is about 3 inches in diam. Many thanks for looking. I am so excited it is finally here.

Very unusual. Bifolates usually have longer psuedobulbs. My vote would be some kind of epicatt. but it's hard to tell.

Now that it's open, I definately see some laelia influence.
