I am so excited, first bloom on this orchid. I was very surprised by the very fine flower sheath, never seen one of these before. It is a noid, a friend passed it onto me, she couldn't tell me anything about it. Does anyone know what it is. I know the flower would help. But is it a Laelia?

It appears to be in the cattleya family, but not sure what type without a bloom.

Definitely looks to be of the catt alliance. Won't be able to be sure until it blooms, but the way the spike looks, I'd say that the odds are high that it either is a Laelia or has Laelia in its background.

The plant form suggests it is a bifoliate Cattleya, but the inflorescence tells another story. Can't wait to see the flowers. How big is the plant?
