okay dokey, consider my vocabulary updated. Am now off to look at pictures of catt growths and new roots, to try and work out what is growing out the bottom of the flowering growth on one of mine.

Either a root or a new growth. New growths will come up from the base of the most recent growth. Post a pic and let's have a look!

Maybe yours is looking for some humidity?

Oh, and if I want an orchid house I have to build it MYSELF!!!!
Maybe, but the humidity stays arount 60- 80+% here in spring/summer/fall, and inside over the winter it never dropped below 45% (fish tanks in the room!). Still, it may be easier to keep humidity higher with wet ground under the orchid in their new house. I'll keep trying!

I'd never heard of a big green egg before this forum, and I'm kind of wondering what they actually are? Is it a barbeque? an outdoor grill?

Maybe I should try your suggestion Tami, although I have to admit that the garden is fairly small and the big green egg and the greenhouse may have a turf war!
