    Default Vandaceous!

Remeber back in the 80's when "bodacious" was THE word--well that is how my husband says vandaceous, and he thinks it is hillarious. So here are some bodacious vandaceous orchids.

These are quick snapshots so not the greatest photography, but the flowers themselves brighten my day.

Do you do the once a week soak thing in a bucket?? How do you water yours, I want to keep mine looking nice and growing well. I'd appreciate your advice as yours are just amazingly pretty! I live in humid Florida, we average 50% or more daily.
    Thanks for sharing....

Beauties! I love the blue, but the garnet is awesome! Good growing!

PS. Connie, I grow mine outdoors under a shadehouse in NW FL. I spray them with a garden hose most mornings and mist heavy with fert once a week. In the garage in the coldest winter I hang them on a rolling clothes rack and water either with a spray bottle or roll them out on the driveway and hose them down if it's warm enough. Yours should do very well where you are!

Connie, I can't claim expertise at these babies yet, but for better or worse, here's what I do. Since we got the greenhouse I hose them down--regular hose with an attachment on the end that breaks up the water a bit--more like a rain shower. In Florida, I'd bet that you could grow them outside. (Not a luxury here since it is supposed to frost tonight--again!) I fertilize them once a week with balanced fertilizer and once a month spring/summer I add SuperThrive. I water them at least every other day--it has been pretty gray and rainy around here for months, so I haven't had to water them everyday, but I anticipate that once the heat of summer gets here, I'll be watering every day. I just try to watch the roots to see when they need another drink. I've PM'd you a link to a great website for vanda growing tips.
