Default Brand New Baby!

Alrighty! I just brought home my first orchid!

There is not alot of selection in my home town since it's little more than a village. I got it at the local store, but the information tag had been removed! I think that it is a catt. but I am not fully sure. Any ideas? Posting a pic here. xD More likely to come soon.

Please excuse the bad photography...for some reason my camera doesn't like to focus on the flowers very well.

It is a cymbidium. It is really beautiful. Congratulations.

Cheers,

We could learn a lot from crayons: some are sharp, some are pretty, some are dull, some have weird names, and all are different colors....but they all exist very nicely in the same box. ...Hmmm? .

Oooh. Thanks for the ID on that. xD Lady at the store was off a bit. It has two stalks and -counts- 12 or 13 flowers on it. There are two places where the stalkes (not the ones growing) have been cut back. Any idea on how old the plant could be?

I love the color of your cymbid! You have great taste! Those ground orchids or terrestrial orchids are some of the easiest to grow. The foilage can get large but makes a showy house plant. When I get an orchid with no tag, instead of fretting I give it a fun name to help me remember which it is. You can have alot of fun naming them. Thanks for sharing....love the color of yours!

Wow! Thanks for the info. I had no idea they took that long to grow. Figured that it was a bit older plant. I am enjoying it alot and it really brightens up the room!

Thanks! That's a good idea. Naming it...though I have no idea what to call it. I do like the large amount of foliage as well...even after the blooms are gone it will still look good, I think Dunno if I should repot it any time soon...looks a wee bit cramped in there...or it will be if it keeps growing like mad!
