Hi Becky,
Yes. It hangs in the top of the greenhouse with the standard cattleyas. It actually get the same light as I give my stans. Water twice a week when it is hot. Feed every other week with balanced fert. Perhaps your 'why not' was already sick when you got it. Maybe you should try again.
