Default Cattleya Hybrida

This is a primary cross of C. loddigesii and c. guttata. It takes after it's guttata parent in gaining height. This growth and it's terminal spike is close to 18" tall, a couple of inches taller than last years. It has the distinction of being the first Catt hybrid made by man.

We could learn a lot from crayons: some are sharp, some are pretty, some are dull, some have weird names, and all are different colors....but they all exist very nicely in the same box. ...Hmmm? .

I don't recall it being this color before. It is usually a dusty rose. Maybe it will turn rose after a couple of days. The flower just opened today.

Here is a pic from a prior blooming. This is it's normal color. ????

Either one is fine with me, Ron. Go ahead and pack that baby up and send it to me so that it will not disappoint you with its color problems. hehehehehhee

Cheers,

It's gorgeous! (yeah, and if Bruce changes his mind, it can come a little further to Colorado!) LOL

This came from a southern vendor in Mississippi. They carried some nice plants but are no longer in business. I had an online buddy pick up a few things for me from their going out of business sale in 2006. That is another advantage of these forums. I gain secret shoppers, LOL. I did not go to a single show this year but bought things at WOC, the Santa Barbara Show and a CT vendor this year, through online buds.

Next time I repot, I will take a division..and list it here as an auction to help support the forum. Then you can fight over it, LOL.

You make great connections!

And, I'll be ready to duke it out, BD, when Ron lists a piece of this on orchidbids! ;-)

Default Update on color

Connections are important in orchid collecting, LOL.

Well, The color change was obviously due to the flower just opening and either poor memory on my part or just not catching that stage with prior bloomings. Here is the flower a couple of days later
