Default Diacattleya Chantilly Lace 'Twinkle' HCC/AOS

This was also known as Caulocattleya Chantilly Lace 'Twinkle' at one time.

This is the first successful bloom I have had for this plant. All past blooming attempts resulted in massive bud blasts.

This time it produced two inflorescences with two buds each. None of the buds have blasted yet and this one just opened this morning.

The 'Twinkle' clone is supposed to have a deeper purple shade on the petals, so I will see what happens as the flower matures.
Personally I like the color pattern as it is and hope that it does not gain more purple shades as it matures.

Now that I got this plant to bloom successfully, my next task is to get it to produce more than two successful flowers per inflorescence.

P.S. Don't let the photo angle fool you. This flower is smaller than it looks. Each flower only measures about 2 1/2 inches across.

Looks like a very delicate flower!
    Very beautiful and soft colours!
I would say, one to put on my wish list, but I didn't ever see Diacattleya or Caulocattleya here in Belgium or somewhere in Europe...
So I am enjoying your picture a lot!

    Well done!

It is one of my favorite Catt hybrids...I wouldn't be without one or more in my collection, LOL.

Yours is a bit different in color than mine. Here are 3 of mine for comparison..the last 2 are my favorites!

    Hi Ron,

Are those three all Twinkle clones? it is interesting how many different color forms these clones can have.

My 'Chantilly Lace' looks like the middle picture (when it opens, then as they age the flowers turn white)...they smell like heaven. Mine is in bud right now. It blooms on schedule and is one of the few on my porch that give me little to no trouble. Yours is pretty....I hadn't seen the color variations like on here. The last picture with the dark purple dots and white flowers was very pretty too.

Yes, we have a couple of these too and they both are slightly different from each other. All the ones posted in this thread are nice. I guess if I had to choose my favorite of these, it would be the 2nd one that Ron posted. The photo is great too.

    Cheers,
    BD

John I don't know if the plants were 'Twinkle' or not. The original tag disappeared and when I got these, I wasn't great at keeping records. That has improved, LOL. The first pic of mine is actually a division of the plant in pic # 2. I culture it differently with brighter light and a faster draining mix and it now gives me the darker color. Mine just finished blooming and again I forgot to save pollen to do a cross that I wanted.

Lovely, both of you! I like the paler pink of John's bloom and the second bloom of Rons.

It is interesting how growing conditions can severely impact this plant's color patterns.
In theory we can dictate the exact shade of purple and yellows on this plant by controlling the amount of light and heat that it gets.

This is one of the things that make NOID identification so difficult. It could be a popular hybrid staring you in the face but the slight color variation due to growing conditions make you think it is a different hybrid altogether.

I wonder what color it will be next time it blooms lol.
