    Default NoId Dend. in bloom

Just want to share photos of this Noid Dend. that went through a lot but still manage to bloom. This is my friend's and along with her few other orchids that she received from me (before I got hooked and addicted) from her other friends and presents from her husband were left to survived on their own. This particular cane survived only because the roots were able to crawl out of the small over-crowded pot and the medium so broken down it looked like potting soil, all other canes rotted and died. I re-potted the poor thing when I noticed the spike and discarded the dead siblings and put it next to her Cymbidiums. The spike started getting long and buds growing bigger each day until my dog knocked the poor thing on the ground while he was on his leash that I tied on the pole. I put it back where it was without realizing that the cane broke until I noticed that the buds are starting to wilt. I checked what was wrong with it and found the broken cane (see last photo). I immediately put a bamboo stake but wasn't really expecting that the buds will make it, but I was WRONG. This guy once again proved to me that he's and fighter and will never give up.

    Thanks for looking

That is beautiful. Even the closed buds are colorful and have character.

You did everything but poison it and the tough little Den just keeps on going.... I am not suprised. Dendrobiums are one of the most wonderful orchids groups. I have gotten hooked on them and am enjoying a dark purple blooming. It too has been knocked over, repotted, knocked over again and still blooms on and looks amazing.
I love the color of yours...very nice.

Marissa, You must have a magic touch to still get blooms from that poor Dend.
