    Smile Unknown Cattleya/Hybred ?

This is one of the plants, that I did pick-up while I was at the nursery today. There is no name. The pseudobulbs are more rounded, instead of flat and long ? I'm not to worried about the name. What type of cross could this be ? I like purple,That is why I purchased this plant. Thanks, Rich

There are so many purple hybrids these days it will be hard to tell what genera are in its pedigree. Most likely laelia and cattleya.

However, at first glance it looks like a Cattleya bowringiana species.
The species specialist can confirm or deny.

At a rough guess, I would say that its C. bowringiana, a species cat. The 3 leaves per cane indicate this greatly. Also, if you look at the base of the canes you may find on the mature ( flowering cane ) that there appears to be a small bulb like formation. These become more evident as the plant matures.

I can see why you bought it -- that one would have called me, too! :-)
