    It has taken four years for this to flower... and a couple of times I had thought about parting ways with it... now I am glad I persevered..

    Thanks Cin, Zain.. and Laurent will keep you in mind for when Quarantine and CITES let down their guard...

    Roy, not sure which form this is... my tag says L purpurata 'Adelia' x 'Hilton'... this was purchased from the NSW Orchid Species Society sales table, and I really don't know much more about the history of the plant.

    Comparatively dwarfed by the other purpuratas I have seen, so if the werkhauserii form is also a smaller growing type, then maybe...

    Tim, that is stunning! Has this been moved into a different name class recently? I read somewhere that l. purpurata has been renamed. (Maybe I got that wrong??) I love the shape and the deep, rich color. I am glad you kept it and shared the blooms with us. Bravo!
