BD, I don't think I've ever seen so many flowers to the spike over here as in the pics from the link. The most I can remember seeing or hearing of was 4. The best I had was 3. This is a pic of my plant from a slide, the color has washed out but its very close in the bottom right flower. Always on the pastel side.

That is lovely, Roy. I should take a photo of the plant itself also. This orchid is huge. I was looking at the size of it in the 2004 photo and now, wow. It has grown alot.

    Cheers,
    BD

Here are some photos I took of this cattleya with a yard stick to help show its size. My hand and arm are in the photo again for color balance. The blooms are fresh and have opened up a bit more since I took the first photos. There are three blooms on one spike. Enjoy.

(sorry for the fuzzy photo with the measuring stick, I was holding it and taking the photo at the same time.)

    Cheers,

Size: 44.4 KBWhen marketing clones of the original BLC Helen Brown " Sweet Afton" that was granted the award the breeder advised "It opens green and then turns to yellow". The plant I bought in 1978 does just that.

Here are two photos of my plant in flower. One taken when it has begun to chnge and another whem 8 weeks old.

Wow ! Those are huge ! Light and fertilizer are the most obvious cause for change in color and size of the blooms. If you are spraying with some new fert. with some growth hormones like auxins or cytokinins that can affect in this way.
