    Default a Vanda luzonica photo-op

The first two photos were taken with the Canon EOS400D, while the last was taken with the older wide angle Olympus C5060. The Canon is 10.1 megapixels while the Oly is only 5.1.
Somehow each has its own points...I can't bear to part with the Oly though, which I got in 2003.
    Which photo do you prefer?

I actually prefer the brighter colors of the Olympus shot.

Wow, all are really nice. I like the color quality of the Olympus, but the crispness of the canon shots. You should keep both. AND that vanda is stunning!

    Cheers,

Both are very pretty. I like the vanda very much but which is the more acurate color?

i like that the canon creates a 'night time' look. the olympus gives more vibrant color and contrast, makes the flowers pop from the rest of the photo. i really like that flower! i haven't seen that type in stores.

Didn't you go through this a year or two ago, Nelson? I recall you trying out a newer snazzier camera and choosing to stay with your older Olympus last time.

Ten megapixels is tempting, but the lighting isn't right on the Vanda (gorgeous, but the way!) Are their different light settings that you need to play with more to learn how best to use?

I have tried decreasing the ISO from 400 to 100. The light sources are two spiral fluorescent lamps in reflectors. Also tried using the macro lens instead of lens adaptors. Very little difference in colour tones.

Incidentally, the conditions for the two sets of photos are the same.

I think I have to explore more the Canon camera.

I would explore more before making a decision. I have a Canon point-and-shoot that's several years old (5.1 MP), but depending on my lighting and the camera setting, I can get very dramatically different lighting results.

I think it's worth exploring the range of possibilities (even though it can be a bit of work and research) before deciding. Best of luck! A good camera in your hands will yield stunning results!

    Julie
