Default mini orchid - Sophronitella violacea

Sophronitella violacea is a species found in eastern Brazil. It is a monotypic genus, and is probably the smallest orchid I bloomed so far. It's growing in a 2 inch mame bonsai pot, and I have it growing next to some indoor bonsai trees. My first blooming.

Wow, Fren, that is tiny. I love the way it is potted in that bonsai pot. Very nice.

    Cheers,

I've read that it is cool growing. However I haven't had problems growing it on my windowsill which is only cool during the winter. So I don't think they need to be as cool as madsevallias. And it grew many new pseudobulbs this summer, maybe next year I can get more blooms at once. Keep the plants moist, because if it dries out too long the new pseudobulbs get too winkled. Mine is on a western windowsill.
