It is a single plant, with about 10 or so stems, or canes.

By far the biggest single plant I saw was a huge clump of Vanda lamellata var remediosae, with perhaps a hundred canes or stems. When I saw it there were around 75 spikes. It was occupying space that was bigger than an SUV.
