    Question Unknown Dendrobium from Indonesia

    Hello friends,

I need help with identifying this beautiful Dendrobium species from Indonesia. It was labeled "Dendrobium platycaulon" but is obviously not that species. It blooms twice a year for me here in Singapore during March and September. I grow the plant indoors in warm to intermediate conditions in partial shade. Any help in figuring out its identity will be most welcome.

It's a lengthy search, but you can crawl through the Den species on this site and look for a match:

    Default ? lamellatum

I got Den. lamellatum variety alba but very small than this one, might be another variety of Den. lamellatum alba form Indonesia as we can see in Den anosmum, may be I am wrong.Down here. Anyway just have a look den lamellatum var. Sabah Borneo, I just snap from my text books the flower relatively almost the same size but pink one

Thanks for the help! It does indeed look a lot like Dendrobium lamellatum; particularly in the one Zain posted above. Oddly enough I had a plant identified as Dendrobium lamellatum in Manila that looked completely different. Not only was my Indonesian plant smaller (17 cm in length vs. double that for my Philippine plant), the flower colour different (pink versus white), there was also only one apical leaf per plant in my Indonesian plant (vs. two-ranked in my plant in Manila). This may however be within the natural variation of the species, although I read somewhere that the lamellatum complex may actually contain several good species.
