Here's an uncommon clone of the popular Gratrixara Sogo Doll. (Formerly Hawkinsara)
I bought it in bloom from a BBS, but after that it just produced a lot of pseudobulbs and no blooms for two years.
This is the first time the plant is blooming again.
Notice that the yellow shades are almost non existent, compared to the popular 'Little Angel' clone. The only yellow that remains are tiny splashes on the throat.
It is growing in a 6-inch wood basket with medium orchid bark. It is hanging about 2 feet below the roof of the greenhouse for maximum light at about 6000fc in summer.
Each flower is about 2 1/2 inches across.
This plant LOVES to grow pseudobulbs. I see about 10 new growths throughout the growing season. If only this plant would produce at least one flower per new pseudobulb it would make for a spectacular display.
But right now I get a dismal ratio of 1:10 (1 flower for every 10 new pseudobulbs).
Compact catts typically have a ratio of at least 4:1.
Also, I am not sure if this is what future flowers will look like.
Perhaps the plant is still resetting after I originally purchased it (some plants take forever to get situated). IF it blooms the following season, I can determine if this will be the consistent appearance of the flowers
It sure is pretty!!
Wow! Thank you for this post! I have just bought a seedling of Hknsa. Sogo Doll 'little angel' and wanted to know what Hknsa stood for all I knew when I got it was it was a mini catt with pretty flowers ( I had put the name into google images), yours is a beauty I didn't realise they could grow so big (width wise) I love the flowers on yours as well, well done on growing such a beauty and I hope that you get more flowers.
My Lc Rojo is doing the same thing, lots of p-bulbs, but only one spike this year. Let's hope we will have a lot more spikes next year.
Such pretty flowers. I really like the coloring. I'm glad it finally bloomed for you, and I hope it will do so again next season.
Now that the plant is so large, hopefully you will get many more spikes and blooms next season.
