Smile My first Den... TOTAL luck!...

I was really bored today... The weather is getting like HOT here in Tehran so I decided to visit the nursery I always buy phals there... There were many mini-phals... Young plants with only 2-3 leaves and 4-5 flowers... Some even new cultivars imported... I asked the guy "Is this all you have?"... And he said "Yes but there is one orchid here that looks a little bit different"!... Then I saw this wonderful beauty And picked it up at once!... The green part of the plant is just 15 cm's high...
I've got a new job so having a portable greenhouse is not just a dream anymore!... One of my friends told me about a florist here selling ordinary purple and white catts (around 100$ each! oh dear I have to stick to my job and investigate!)... At last!... I'm reaching my favorite orchids!...
I've never had a Den before and I need personal experience... Any link about proper home care of dens will be appreciated...

Congrats, Mohi! Your dend looks great! I have one like it and so far seems happy outside. Likes light, but not direct sun, responding well on high humidity and flowers lasting very long time- I bought mine couple of months ago and haven't lost a flower yet.

    Hi Mohsen,
I'm a new member and haven't introduced myself on this forum but as nobody answered your question yet...

Your Dendrobium is a Dendrobium Phalaenopsis, which means it's a warm growing Den. that doesn't require a winter rest. I live in the Netherlands and during the winter it stops growing here. The night temps are around 16 C then and the days are short and dark. I let it dry out between waterings during winter. If I don't that I end up with root rot. During growth I water again when it's slightly moist and it gets fertilizer, weakly weekly.

Edit: obviously, while I was typing my reply, others answered your post before I could LOL

    very healthy looking,
amazing, such a short plant came up with lots of blooms!

as for the advice, just like the others said, give it looooots of light, water her maybe twice a week, depending on your humidity.

Mohsen, that is such a beautiful dendrobium. I would have purchased it too. Check out the dendrobium forum section here on OrchidTalk and the RVO care page. Click on Dendrobium for information on light, humidity, temps, ect..

    Cheers,
    BD

Thanks Nicole, for your brief advice... And welcome to RVO...

Lambert, I'm glad this diversity happened... But I never get sick of phals as they're my favorite orchids...

Margo, The most charming aspect of orchids IMHO is the long life of the flowers... I'm glad I'm experiencing it with another orchid...

Thank you all for your useful advices...
