    Hi Julie!

You might try putting your catt in natural sun light and taking the photo. I use a digital camera to take many of our shots and have learned through lots of takes that the best light is sunlight that just hits across the plant. Not direct light onto the plant, but just across. The direct light will do like your flash and alter the color and wash out the plant.

Very beautiful catt! Thanks for sharing the photos!

    Cheers!

    Thanks, Bubba!

It's currently snowing...or maybe sleeting...so you're not far off on the grayness. I sometimes think I'm a glutton for punishment trying to grow orchids in Mass. But lots of them like intermediate conditions (temp, humidity, etc.) so they aren't too terrible if you have enough light.

Until I got to my current apartment, I had a lot of trouble getting things to rebloom. The light is so great here, though, I've really grown the collection. I had this catt for seven or eight years and never knew what it looked like until a year ago! Now it chugs away, blooming twice a year. And now that I've figured out that they like more water when setting buds and blooming, I've got it lasting 7 weeks (so far) as opposed to the 2-3 weeks the last two times.

You should list the ones you have in this thread: http://www.rv-orchidworks.com/orchid...d=355#poststop.

Heather got me to put mine up the other day. It's cool to compare collections. (Although be warned that there are some VERY intimidating lists!)

    Hi BD,

What do you mean, just hits across the plant?

I did try direct sunlight on the flowers and found the same as you - the effect is similar to the camera flash.

The pictures I just posted were shot with natural light, but from inside near the window (too cold to step outside for a picture!) They're the closest I've been able to get to the intensity of the orange (it seems battery-powered).

    Hi Julie,

I think you need to edit your pics. This is the result to what I did using a simple microsoft photo editor. I heard that the result is even better using a photoshop, but I don't have one.

    Thanks, Tanya - good idea!

I spent my time mucking with the camera, not the software. Both contribute as you've shown nicely!

I'll just pass all my shots through you!!

    Hey Julie!
I guess I meant 'Indirect Light' instead of sunlight shining directly on the plant. Sorry for the confusion.
    Cheers!
