    Default dendrobium sonia

    hi guys,

i just love her colours and shape, although i read that this one becomes out of fashion, but what do i care?
this bud was about to fully open, but i liked it as it was and the backlight made it even more interesting.

    thanks,

    Beautiful shape and great picture
I didn't know there were orchids that were fashionable and some that were not. Where did you read that?

    hi lambert,

thanks and nice to hear from you!
i honestly cant remember where i read it, just somewhere in the net during a research. unfortunately the market dictates, but not like clothes. i think in the orchid world there is every few years new hybrids coming out which become fashionable. well, im not affected by it, im getting those i like.

yes, the bloom lasts quite long and even if the colors are fading, its still pretty!

I placed my smaller one at our Altar and its been there for about 2months now and its
still in bloom, not a single bloom dropped. While i have a mother plant outside that it
blooming non-stop its now working on its 3rd spike, and has tons of keikis.

Who cares about fashion?! She is beautiful! I have quite a few of the same type and I love them all! They bloom easier and alot more than the "new fashion" ones!!!

I know of a nursery here that grows their den's out in bright full sunlight. They burn at first and then bloom like crazy. I don't know how she does it...mine just burn and never get to the bloom part. I had/have a Sonya awhile back but since my dens don't like to bloom for me yet, I'm not sure if it's still alive or not. Time will tell...your's is lovely!

    hi connie,
maybe you should try to give her some shade. i know what you mean, sometimes i see orchids in the neighborhood and they do well against all rules, but i doesnt mean the same applies in your growing area, like small differences in humidity, airflow etc.

    hope yours will bloom!
