A friend sent me a small division of that at one time .... alas it died before I even got to see a bloom.

Very nice, Raphael! What conditions does it need?

Thanks Tami! Pavel, I treat it like I do all of my regular Encyclia. Intense/direct light all year. Very cool and dry in winter/ Warm and frequent water, fertilizing in Spring and Summer. Potted in hydroton and cork pieces so it drains/dries quickly. An ideal Encyclia for the windowsill grower!

    Welcome to OrchidTalk Raphael.

Wow, what a real beauty. Let me start out by saying Thank you. Thank you for showing me this wonderful little orchid. I have been tinkering with the idea of buying a "bulb" type orchid for some time now. When I saw this little thing, I immediately knew this was the one I wanted to start out with. So, I pulled out all the books I had on Orchids and researched this specific genus. Then I went online and bought one for $16.00! I'm so excited as this will be my FIRST bulb-type.

Can you tell me what the scent smells like? Thanks!

Thanks Jake! You'll love your new Encyclia! To my nose, the flowers smell of aging roses with a hint of musk. Very soft; you have to get your nose right in there!
