[quote=Slyjester;155589]I can't believe that Blue one is as big as your HAND! Wow. Man, I remember when I walked into a big box store a few years back and they had Vandas for sale with these looooooong roots hanging down from these little wooden baskets. I should've purchased one, but I thought it looked...un-tidy. Is it true these require LOTS of light?

Yes, Jake, they LOVE light. I only keep mine out of direct midday sun but others grow theirs completely in the open. Hope you get another chance on a vanda. Just think - no medium = few pests, little rot, very little repotting, and tons of flowers!

Thanks, Amey, I had no idea when I ordered this plant it would be so huge but it is one of my faves now.

Tami, you have the most fantastic Vandas. Do you heat the orchid house or just keep your fingers crossed that we don't get too bad a frost? Do you put all you orchids inside?

Thanks! No Ischel, I don't have a green house. Just a 4 x 8 open structure with shade cloth over the top. I put them in the garage in a south facing window when it starts getting into the 40s around here. They pout a bit but they recover quickly.
