i have to run to the laundromat - just got one from someone that had to give away many orchids - was just 6 dollars.
    I am in brooklyn ny
2 southern windows - light filtered by a tree in the yard across the one from my building - so slightly filtered... i hung the vanda on my window.

leaves lenght 20 cm per leaf. 5 pairs.
mounted on a piece of coconut husk...
got also 2 small Vanda pachara. they came bare root with no good roots. in a communal small basket with lava rock some bark and clay pellets. sprouting many new leaves. maybe can post photos later.
    i am a novice.

Tim, mine grow in a little less that Catt' light but will be increased soon I hope. I find that this plant likes to have a cool winter and warm summer to grow and flower well for me, even though it does come from a warm/hot country. My orchd house temps run from 8c to 35c depending on the weather. I run evap' aircon and mist spray water during the hot weather and water every day or 2nd day if possible throughout the year. I feed almost regularly also.

hmm.. well.. we haven't had too cold a winter here.. I don't even think we went down below ten celsius!!! Which does not bode well for summer... hopefully today's rain means the summer will be mild.

Thanks Roy. I've got to work out where to put my monster plant so that it doesn't get rained on (i'm a control freak when it comes to watering.. only me and not mother nature ahhahahah) but still gets plenty of sun.

I think your looking after the plant too well, give it a hard time.
