Very nice blooms. It's good to see this plant.I used to have one, until my news carrier lanched a newspaper from the ground floor to my 2nd story porch.Knock it down they took it and disposed of it. I was paid for the cost of the plant.I now go purchase my news paper from a store now.I'm not taking any more chances. Take Care,Rich

Can anyone here describe the fragrance to me? I just bought 3 of them. It's my first time growing this Cattleya. Any tips on temperature it likes and amount of time between waterings? Thanks in advance!

It is always a good idea to start your own thread with a new question rather than asking in another thread. This will draw the most attention to your question. I don't have this particular cattleya, but do grow many cattleyas. In general, cattleya orchids like high light, and need to completely dry out between waterings. The medium should be tightly packed around the roots - but must be free draining. Do not over pot your cattleyas or their roots will rot. They need to have plenty of air movement across the surface of the plants to make sure that any water that gets on the plant drys fairly quickly. Leaving water in the junction of leaves, etc can cause fungus, etc...

Hope this helps you, Lonestar.

cheers,
BD

Dreamer, I want to post a photo on here but can't find the image key on this text submission. What do you mean by "over pot". I'm fairly new and have my orchids either potted in a small clay orchid pot or about four of them in the Popsicle stick
Baskets that hang. They get plenty of light! Maybe I should wait 7 days between waterings?

Over-potting means too large of a container with too much potting medium for the size of the plant.

To post photos, you will need to use the 'Go Advanced' feature when replying. Posting photos from a mobile device is difficult, but not impossible. You will simply need to have your photos hosted online somewhere and use the image BB 'bulletin board' code and the actual direct URL of your image. Here is what the code looks like:
