Went to see the vendor this morning and got some help. According to his records( much of it in Chinese characters ) the cross is Blc Keowee x Schomburgkia ( the Chinese version read cham phak khia) xxxx.(not legible). That's all I could get from him. So the orchid is a Recchara.By the way I don't read Chinese.

Lucky I went to see him this morning as I was able to visit 2 other vendors and bought 2 cute blooming epidendrums, 2 blooming mini catts NOID each for only US $4 (so what's to complain about the NOID) and a huge flowered Onc Flying High US$13.Will post pix of same soon.

Sorry, stefpix, didn't take the camera along. Mission was just to see the vendor about the so-called Tarashi Dell. The sale of orchids was held in conjunction with our local orchid show, which incidentally had no publicity whatsoever. I came to know of it because a friend in the organising committee text me about it. The show itself wasn't too bad.

The real orchid treat was to be had at the vendors. There were 5 tents about 400 sq ft each packed with orchids of every genera , but mostly vandaceous, phals, dendrobes, cattleya alliance, warm type paphios and species inc some from Papua New Guinea.

There was also a tent selling driftwood and bonsai plants.

Wish I had brought along my camera.

AQ Plus lists no hybrids using Blc. Keowee. Doesn't mean its right. I'm still looking at Schomburgkia hybrids.

The cross Keowee x Schomburkia makes sense if you ask me, esp. the former. Look forward to the photos of the other orchids

    Cheers, Michael

Thanks , Jeff . Sure looks like it - the spots, the colour and the twisted petals.Couldn't answer earlier as I have just returned from the holidays. Enjoyed the holidays immensely - what with the grandchildren and orchids. More on this later.

Glad to hear you had a great holiday. I did as well. I saw this advertised in an email I received. Though not quite as nice as the pic you have (in my opinion anyway) I still ordered one. And why not 3 others to make it a worthwhile shipment. Had to use some of the holiday and birthday money I got.

Wow, what an amazing cross! I love the markings and the twisted petals and sepals. How big is the plant, as I understand schomburgkias can get quite large?
