Talking Bc Maikai and Epidendrums for Christmas

As mentioned in an earlier post, inspired by Bl Morning Glory, I went looking for one. With the local orchid show and a few vendors in town, I thought it was a good opportunity to look for Xmas gifts for myself. Couldn't find Morning Glory but a Bc Maikai instead, the nearest substitute for MG. I chose the lighter coloured variety because I thought it had the closest resemblance to MG.

Since I was already at the stalls and there were a lot of inexpensive mini catts I decided to give myself an early Xmas treat. All of these shown cost about US$4 each. Why the low price
? People here prefer to go for the big showy catts.

Pic #1 - Bc Maikai

Pic #2 & 3 - NOID mini catts from imported in compots from Japan by the vendor; showing the Japanese preference for light coloured dwarf catts.
the pseudobulbs are 3" tall.

Pic #4 - Epidendrum stamfordianum - very fragrant.

Pic #5 - Epi floribundum x E cordigera

Wishing everyone a merry christmas and happy new year.

Yes, Jeff, they look almost similar. There were a few varieties around but I happen to like this slightly greenish one. Looking back, should have chosen a few more of different colours.
