Smile Phaius tankervilleae 'Rabin's Raven' and 3 Noid Amigos

Yes, I went shopping again...I'd been doing a search for orchids on my areas craigslist and found the names of a couple orchid shops i'd never heard of. Of course, I had to go see if they were as good as their ads seemed to imply. Um, I came home with a humongous nuns orchid (a gift from my lunch buddy!), two noid dens with unusual flowers, a mini catt with no name and two phals that were being treated like trash, thrown in a box with dens and other phals all thrown one on top of another. I can't believe I was able to leave with just these. There were so many flowers and they were just dirt cheap. Next time I'll try to remember to put my brain in gear and take some pics...

The first flowers are opening. The smell is slightly of cinnamon, slightly sweet.

    Connie,
    congratulations!! Great shopping!!
    Nice plants and pictures, too!

I have the Nun orchid, too... and it is monstrous. The plant is so huge that I could not repot it by myself... even with my husband's help it was a tough task!
Shoudl I mention that two years ago when I bought the plant it was about the same size as yours....

It was its 1st blooming. Picture was taken on March, 5th, 2008

    2nd blooming (one year ago)

    Plant produced 3 seed capsules.
    Picture from Oct. 1st. (1,5 L bottle)

7th of Nov., 2009 / Just before repotting

    Now

I am afraid I'll have to divide the plant pretty soon.

HOLY COW!!! Those are enormous, and stunning to boot. Good growing!

Those photos make me want to kick myself for not buying a Phaiuscalanthe when I had the chance to 5 years ago.

I'm sure Connie is going to cringe when she sees that!
