They do have a very nice fragrance. Unfortunately; this plant has intermedia in it and so far i've killed every single plant crossed with intermedia. I love them, think they are very pretty...but under my care they do very badly.

interesting........do you think it might be how it needs water. do you let it completely dry out? What kind of light is it in?

I have no idea honestly...i've had probably three or four. They seem to be very suseptible to the bugs here. I can have a maxima type sitting next to an intermedia...the maxima will flourish, the intermedia will shrivel and die. I give my cattleya pretty much standard care with light levels depending on what each one will take. If they are dark green they move closer to the sunlight, if they start burning or looking too red I move them away. Watering is done by what they are potted in. I've discovered i'm just good with some and not others. I'm guessing it has to do with altitude, or the fact i'm so close to the coast....

If you are close to the coast
Have you ever considered that it might be the saline levels in the air? I lived at South Padre Island for years and it was not very hospitable to orchids.
