Mrs. Javier, for whom this orchid is named, has now retired from the retail orchid-selling business.
It was very seldom that she actually ever had this species for sale and if available it was extremely expensive. I remember seeing it for sale for US$300 quite a few years ago.
I am probably one of the very few foreigners, who has been fortunate enough to have seen this species growing in the wild. Its natural habitat is very remote and is only a couple of square kilometres in size. This is in the mountains of central Luzon.
It is a most delightful species, which fortunately for me, I can grow quite easily.
In fact my biggest plant is now carrying a seed capsule, that must be getting near to harvest time.
