    Default Vanda lamellata, Philippine species

My only species vanda is the Vanda lamellata, a native of the lowlands of the Philippines. This one loves the heat, thrives at sea level. Flowers may be small in size (only about a tenth of a typical Vanda Velthius hybrid) but big in fragrance and beauty.

    Hi Angel,

Vanda lamellata is one of my favourite Vanda species from the Philippines too.

Did your plant come from near Cotabato?

    v. lamellata is one of my favorites, small flowers compared to other vandas, but its long
    lasting and highly fragrant.

Yes Jim. Actually it was given by one of my neighbors. Several of my neighbors have had it for years. Perhaps they got it from their home provinces. I don't see the V. lamellata at all in local agri-trade fairs or plant markets though.

One of my favorite species, a sturdy plant with strong, sweet fragrances...
    I loved them.

Really nice color. I love it too and we don't have this one in VN.

Thank you all for the good feedback.
I always stop to smell the lamellata each morning after watering my orchids. I notice that scent is strongest in the morning when sunlight first touches the flowers.
