Sorry to hear that. I hope atleast the plant lands at a place where it is well cared for, and you find a new one. How about buying a Rottweiler dog ??

Thanks Yew Sung. Actually it's even cheaper here in my part of the Philippines. For blooming size and in bloom too, they'd go for about US $9.00 or a little less. Blooming size but not in bloom would cost much less, around US $6.60.

I'll need lady luck to put me in the right agri fare at the right time.

    To Fren:

Yes Fren, great color on that one.
An ascocenda that was white with purple spots was also stolen, as well as a deep yellow-orange ascocenda. Another vanda with golden brown flowers (Odum Gold or something like that) was also lost.
    All were prolific bloomers.

    To Amey:
Good suggestion Amey. Had a dog before. But when he died and I was between dogs, the robbers had a heyday, stealing my orchids and many pet birds, among them cockatiels and budgerigars. Now I have two dogs and the thieves haven't returned since.

That is so horrible, Angel. I feel like Bruce does - my orchids are part of my family! Thankfully people here have no idea of the value of plants - they may not be as easily marketable here as they may be in the Phillipines, I think. And the loss of your birds is terrible also. I truly hope you can find a replacement for your lovely blue vanda.

Thanks so much Ron, Becky, and Tami. Your kind words do make me feel better. Ron is right, plant theft is not unusual in the Philippines. Orchids are preferred targets because of their market value, and also because they are quite easy to steal compared with tropicals planted in the ground.

Here's a photo of one of the ascocendas that were stolen. This one was a gift from a good friend and so I valued it more. And it had such "cute" flowers.
