This one also belongs to my grandfather, King. I have smaller, younger plants at home, but none have bloomed yet.

It must be fun to live in an area where you can grow such great orchids outdoors.

That's the great thing about the tropics, Jeff, especially on my grandpa's land near the foothills of Mount Apo, the highest mountain in the Philippines. This area is also home to the most famous of our orchids, the vanda sanderiana, which grows in the wild here.

that's right. Nothing beats seeing a blooming orchid in its natural setting. there used to be some fabulous phals growing on trees around our old farmhouse. One day my grandfather decided to raise some cows. Unfortunately, the cows ate the phals since they were within reach. LOL

    Mabuhay!

Hi there angel. I love d. anosmum or locally called "sanggumay", i love the fragrance and the velvety texture of the flower. Congrats. Anyway, I would just like to ask what is that big plant growing beside the tree? is that a "kapa-kapa" ?

I believe that that is a giant medenilla. My grandfather is fond of that plant.
