Smile Ascorachnis Shah Alam City - mini vandaceous

All of us are aware how big vanda plants can grow to. The vandaeous alliance is a big group that includes vandas, vandopsis, arachnis, renantheras and their intergeneric crosses and most of them are big plants not suitable for growers with limited grow-areas.

But we tend to overlook the little cute minis made with Ascocentrum miniatum, ampullaceum and coelestis; and even withe Neofinitea.

Here's a mini mokara-like hybrid - Ascorachnis Shah Alam City a cross of Asctm Mona Church (miniatum x ampullaceum) x Arachnis hookeriana
. The plant blooms at 8 inches tall and flowers are 1 in across.

Very nice. I like the mini's. I don't have room for the others. The one I have is something like Mokara Salaya Gold. Sadly I didn't even have it for a day when one of my cats got to it and ruined the flowers before I could get a pic. It's growing so hopefully I will be able to post a pic in the future.
