Smile My vanda Taweesuksa x Vanda Pimsai is blooming

My Vanda Taweesuksa x V Pimsai is blooming now with 7 flowers measuring 3.5 ins ( 9cm). This is its first blooming. I bought it a year ago and it already had a keiki which is now half the size of the mother plant.

The other blooms, the clear dark pink ones are of Ascocenda Karen Ono ( Ascda Yip Sum Wah x V coerulea ). This is the third time it has bloomed. The flowers measure 2 3/4 ins ( 7cm ).

    Enjoy.

Both very nice Yew, very nice. The Ascda Karen Ono has waving that I haven't seen on one before.

Both are beautiful, Yew, but the one on top is my favorite. You certainly grow some wonderful orchids! Love your pictures, too. Betty :-)

Thanks everyone for your comments. I personally like the first one because it reminds me of the old-time hybrids which had flat flowers as opposed to the more modern ones which tend to be cupped.

@Roy:Thanks for pointing out the waving.I really love the dark vibrant pink and glad that there are no tesselations ( the breeder must have used a coerulea without tesselations). The Yip Sum Wah parent has also passed on the vibrancy of the colour.

Yew, I have a Karen Ono and have seen a lot on the net, very few if any ( from memory ) have any tesselations. Makes me wonder if the parents have been recorded correctly. Mine has tesselations but can only be seen with a light behind the flower.
