    Default New Vandas

    Cheers,

Yesterday I finally was able to take a short leave from work so we went to
our favorite orchid place.... anyways I made a killing there and as always went
home with a car packed full of orchids. Mostly none blooming ones, but I was
lucky enough to snag a few blooming ones....

    Vanda ustii
I really love this one and how elegant looking the flowers are.... too bad most
of the flowers we're damaged during transport, can't wait for it to rebloom under
    my care.

    Vanda roeblingiana
I fell in love with this one the moment i saw a photo of it. Since then I've
been on a hunt for her. Gladly, I was able to spot not 1 but 2 plants
yesterday so i bought both of them. Sadly this is no exception as well, the
blooms have been damaged during the transport... anyways, the bigger plant
has about 4spikes and one of them is still budding... hopefully it wont abort.
The second one though small is also throwing a 2nd spike.... Oh how I wish
they wont suffer much from change of environment. This I can say is my most
    valuable find yesterday.

First set is of the larger one.... sorry about the mess.

Love both of them, especially the colour and lip of the roeblingiana. I can understand why you were attracted to it.

oh yeah, the wife was wondering why i was so excited with finding a roeblingiana I kept
telling her to look at how pretty the lip is..... but still she fails to understand why....
of course V. ustii is pretty as well especially with how the lip contrasts with the petals...

Randy the Vanda roeblingiana you should keep under shaded conditions. This is one Vanda species that cannot tolerate heat from sunlight.

Thanks Jojo, I have also installed additional shade net in my growarea.... and have temporarily placed it near in a place where it'll be shaded by other vandas.... good thing
you have warned me before hand as i am planning to give it more light as soon as it gets
acclimated. But its raining anyways so theres not much sun.

Yes, V. ustii is a native plant... i believe it was a form V. luzonica before it was elevated
into a specie(i hope someone can correct me if im wrong.) Im referring to the Sunday
Market at the Lung Center of the Philippines.
