Thats a very beautiful example of the "bows & bells" series of cattleyas.

    An interesting historical tidbit:
    C. Bow Bells was a cross between C. Suzanne Hye (the only one existing at the time) and C. Edithiae - which itself was a cross between C. Suzanne Hye x C. trianaei.
    C. Suzanne Hye was growing in London at the time of the German invasion. The caretakers of the plant decided that it was far too valuable to risk getting destroyed in the war so they packed it up and shipped it to the U.S.A.
The ship carrying it however, was sunk by a German submarine (U-boat) and the only known original C. Suzanne Hye plant was lost forever.

Although orchid breeders have since resurrected this plant by remaking the cross, the original was one of the many casualties of wars past.

Beautiful blooms Amey. Always have a soft spot for white catts but have found them to be the most difficult to grow well. Congrats.

@ John: Love that historical 'tidbit'. Thanks. It was a fascinating bit of orchid lore.

Thank you everyone for praising this orchid, I also love this white coloured beauty. And John thanks for the historical tidbits ! So there were orchid crazy people who tried to safeguard orchids in those times, back then as well hehe.
