Thanks so much Lars for all the info. I'll check them out and see which one most closely matches the third red orchid (the first two photos in Message #2). That one still needs ID. And I have another NoID red vanda with its first spike after seven years. Will post it once the flowers have opened.

Hello Desiree. Yes indeed, red is an exciting color! And all this tropical sun only serves to make the flowers more intensely red.

Gosh those red vandas really look stunning especially with the white backdrop of your house. They must really look very attractive when viewed from afar.

You are right Jojo. White makes red really stand out. At times I go out the gate and just stare from a distance. I just wish they'd all bloom simultaneously.

Thanks Julie. If you live in the tropics, you won't have a hard time growing a mokara. ;-)

And humid too? If so, you won't have too much trouble growing a Mokara or Kagawara provided it doesn't get too cold at night. Hottest temperatures in my area would be around 32 degrees Centigrade.
Maybe you just have to make some adjustments during winter to protect them from the cold.
