Here are two photos of the same plant blooming at different times. The flowers look completely different ! If I didn't know for sure I'd swear they were from different plants. The earlier blooms were a pleasant pastel pink with a yellow throat. The present blooms are an off-white, still with the yellow throat.

The first picture was taken in Dec of last year and the second picture of the blooms now. Judge for yourself.

Both flowering are beautiful Yew, but I like the first one better. Maybe the difference in
color is due to light? I noticed that some of my dends have a much more better coloration
when they we're flowering back in summer than any other months.... just a guess.

I think may be due to lack of light, flowers will not show up right as the original color? or may be due to effects of fertilizer

Temperature can make changes in color as well. Cooler nights, warmer days, etc...

Thanks Randy and Hoanglong for your comments on the possible causes of the drastic colour change.Actually the recent flowering is the summer flowering. Maybe the extra light bleached out the colour.Hahaha.....

Believe it or not the vendor from whom I bought the plants told me that the yellow one in the first picture is the same cross from the same flask!!!! Any way both are compact growers with medium size blooms - 3 inches/7.5 cm.

Temperature changes, amount of sunlight and type of fertilizer used can all be factors. I have been told with some of the white cattleya that have yellow in the throat, by changing fertilizers you can either increase the yellow or have it almost undetectable.

Siblings of any complex hybrid can vary greatly as to colors, shape, etc... It all depends on how the genes go together.

Congradulations on blooming a multi-colored orchid, Yew! They are very pretty...I think you are just lucky! Betty :-)
