    Question My Harveyanum

This is my Den. Harveyanum. To me it looks healthy. The only problem I have is that this is how it has looked for several months. It was the top of another plant that was cut off and rooted with the keikeis attached. Should I remove the babies? What can I do to help it jump start into growing mode again? I am not really worried about blooming it at this point, I just want to see some growth. The new leaf in picture 2 has been just like that since I got it.

I wouldn't remove the keikis just yet. Your dendrobe looks like it needs more light.

Yes, it needs more light. It should have a light green appearance. Ease it into light to avoid burning it. Also, I am guessing you took this photo just after watering. Remember dendrobiums like to dry completely out before being watered again.

    Cheers,

This semi-deciduous species also needs winter rest treatment(cooler, no fertilizer and less watering in winter).

Loving all the advice. When should I be thinking of removing the keikis?

You can/should just leave it alone as it is. That old growth may still provide energy/food for that keikis.

Well, I did listen and move it to a sunnier spot. I was doing the whole watering and fertilizing thing today and noticed 2 roots with green tips starting to crawl up the inside of the pot. I am going to take this as a good sign. Also, the leaf that seemed to be spooning inside of the other one has moved out on its own now. All in all I think it may be starting to wake up!!

Ok, so this plant looks pretty much the same as it did when I got it. However, when watering yester day I noticed 2 new nubs of some sort starting on each of the keikis. They are so small that I can't get a good picture of them yet. Not sure if they are further keikis or spikes. They are up towards the top of the canes so I am not thinking roots. Will post a pic in a couple of days.
