Fantastic specimens - all of them. For me the 3 most outstanding are the Arundina graminifolia 'alba' and that Aer lawrenceae (deserving of an award) and the Ren monachica, which has such a fantastic shape!!!!

Those photos are NOT my plants. They belong to my orchid grower-breeder friend. Photos were taken around 2 years ago in his private orchid nursery-laboratory.

The pierardii and bullenianum are awesome...
Unfortunately his nursery and lab isn't open to outsiders. It just so happens that he and I are friends that is why he brought me there to show me his plants. Some of the plants I grow at home (they are big now but not yet flowering) came from him. I don't even remember how to go there because I am not familiar with the Antipolo area. We were chatting and chatting all along the way in his van and I wasn't paying attention on the route so I didn't take notice of the directions and before I knew it we were there. He drove me back home afterwards.

Yes, I was in awe at the sight of his Den. Pierardii in full bloom that time. The weather there was cool and pleasant and the sun was bright. It appears that there is a daily drop in the nighttime temperature there. Maybe that is why his plants grow so well because of the ideal climate and the fact that he keeps his nursery and lab very, very clean.

The Aerides does it have any particular variety name ??
None that I know of. All I was told that was his Aerides which he has kept and used as a parent for some of his breeding experiments. He told me that plant originally came from another orchid grower-hobbyist who is our common friend and he was able to divide and propagate it.

Yes Yew. He has a lot of outstanding and carefully selected plants which he keeps as parents. He prefers quality over quantity. Some of the plants he keeps belong to some of our other orchid collector-friends from their personal garden/nursery. They send their plants to his nursery because his conditions are very conducive to plant growth. We are a group/gang of 4 friends, all orchid hobbyists who have known each other since way back in the 90's (something like the Fantastic 4. LOL!) . This particular friend of mine is the only one who pursued the orchid breeding/laboratory and continues up to this day. I restarted my orchid hobby just a few years ago when I moved into my townhouse after a long hiatus of almost 8-9 years - so all my original plants before were either lost to orchid heaven or given away to relatives. The 3rd friend is a plant consultant for some of the big commercial plant and flower growers here and the other has his own nursery specializing in ornamental plants (including some orchids which he propagates or obtains from stock plants here). We seldom see each other but we can contact each other at anytime because we keep each others' contact numbers. It just happened that time my friend "missed" me because whenever he drove his van in my old neighborhood, he noticed that my ancestral house was gone and been replaced by a new restaurant building. My family decided to sell the property because it was a "white elephant" and we were spending so much in taxes just to maintain it because the area was slowly becoming commercial. He decided to call me (good I still had my old cellphone number) to check where I had moved and later we set a date to meet up and he brought me to his nursery (perhaps to show off ....)

I am the only person in our "gang of 4" who is a non-agriculturist/horticulturist. I'm into I.T. This friend of mine has a degree in Agriculture, the other in AgriChem and the last one is into ornamental horticulture. All their degrees are from the University of the Philippines in Los Banos Laguna.

I'm not sure but I think he does but only in small quantities (meristemming) since this is a very difficult, laborious and exacting process. It's been years since we last seen or even spoke with each other. Maybe not anymore but I'm not him.

What I'm sure of though is his seeding and flasking services. I could send him an sms message and inquire.
