Outstanding Vanda Sanderiana Alba

This is a discussion on Outstanding Vanda Sanderiana Alba within the Cattleyas, Vandas, Dendrobiums IN BLOOM forums, part of the Orchid Photography category; BTW, it's snowcap not snowcup. Careful as you might call it snowcone by mistake. LOL! ...

Well, all basically have the same colors (white, green/chatreuse) but I think it might be the way the colors and patterns are distributed and defined on the flower. It could also have something to do with the size and shape too. I'm not too sure (and don't remember well) because it's been a long time since I saw a variety constance in bloom. The last time I saw one was way, way back in the 80's when a plant owned by then Dr. Potenciano (one of the legendary sanderiana collectors in the Philippines among others that time) had a collection of them on display in his POS show booth that time. I was young and all I can recall was that it had the "WOW" factor impact on me altho I don't recall the details of the flower patterns (just the coloration and big size). The snowcap variety I have never seen the flower yet but I was told it was beautiful so when I had the opportunity to buy one that I could afford from one of the old, reliable growers, I grabbed the chance. The plant owned by my friend made me recall in some way that "WOW" factor I felt then. The constance and snowcap variety are old varieties. The constance being the older one and probably being one of the original outstanding forms. By this time 2010, I'm sure many progeny from the original species have come out so it's getting hard to tell.

I tried doing a google search for photos on the constance and snowcap varieties but I couldn't find any. Too bad at least it could jog my memory back and to be able to see the differences. I think that both those varieties are AM/AOS awarded plants.

Boyong don't count on it to see an outstanding alba form (specially a full blooming type) of Sanderana on sale at the LC as it would probably shock most of the buyers there. Most of whom are looking for a bargain. There could be some standard forms of the normal type or an occasional "albata" (??) form but not exactly the outstanding, show-stopper, head-turning variety. Most of these would be quickie laboratory, flask-culture progenies.

If ever there would be one by any chance and being sold at a bargain .... well, I'm sure it'll be up for grabs and you'll have to face a lot of competiton and a contest on who get's to it first! LOL! Better bring some boxing gloves!

Never mind juzzel. I think I found it with the help of google of course.

For those who are interested to check it out, it's at:
    [-------]
It appears that the Constance variety and my friend's plant almost looks the same. Could it be that they have the constance variety? Hmmmm ......

Anyway ... thank you for the lead. Now I know whom to contact when I plan to visit Davao city after all these years in December.

Happy in-Manila-living guys! My eyes are getting longer and longer.

Yahoo! I was finally able to obtain a keiki division of this wonderful, outstanding clone at a very minimal fraction of its cost! My friends were so kind to me.

The only thing now is I wonder how long before this keiki reaches its full maturity and to start flowering. GeesH. I'm happy though to have a division of the plant.
