Went through tonnes of photos to check the name of this plant and I came closest to Bulbophyllum lilacinum. Anyone care to verify?

Did you compare with careyanum as well? I think it might be careyanum. lilacinum is more of pink than the reddish color in your picture.

I think it is a beautiful orchid. Seems like it is very close to several different ones.

    Cheers,

My B.lilacinum came from a German dealer who specialises in the genus , and he has identified other Bulbo species for me to my complete satisfaction , and my B.lilacinum looks very like yours - see the pic I have just put up.
As to colour , you can't rely on this too much in a digital image - I use two monitors for my desk-top PC, and although I calibrate them with a Spyder 2, the colour of one and the same pic looks different on both, and not exactly the same as the flower when I put them side-by-side. I use Photoshop (v10) and sometimes play about with masks and curves and so forth to try and get the image exactly right, but I am never 100% satisfied ( but then it takes a great deal for me to be 100% satisfied about anything at all - I am a perfectionist , or would be if only I could reach that standard ! )

Hi Stephen, I'm sure your plant is Bulbophyllum crassipes.
