Who can fail to be impressed when seeing pics of specimen plants in beautiful condition ?

But, I wonder if this is a plant worth growing in a greenhouse in a temperatte climate ? It would have to be bought as a seedling with maybe half a dozen canes ; how long would it take to get to a worthwhile size. Anyone know ? Actual experience ? Presumably since it is a street orchid in Singapore etc., it needs the conditions we give catts/vandas etc ?
The temperature drop for flowering would be easy-peasy in England, just leave it out of doors for a night... , and timing it for a show - there's an idea !
    I look forward to comments.

What a magnificent display.... the only thing bad about this is that the flowers dont last
long... but the fragrance more than makes for it.

It is very fast growing in our climate and you are right in calling it a street plant. I don't actually know how fast half a dozen canes would grow into a sizeable clump but I think in less than 3 years you would have triple the number of plants. 'Grow like weeds'! would aptly describe it. The keikis will spring up everywhere - from the base and from any node on along the cane.
As for actual experience, I don't know of anyone here who deliberately grows crumenatum unless it is for landscaping. And for that we just have to collect a whole clump from the colonies that grow on our rain-trees everywhere.
As to whether it is worth your while growing in your greenhouse - its blooming is spectacular but very shortlived, just a day ( you might miss the full blooms if you go shopping in the morning and come back in the evening); it is extremely fragrant and the pristine, glistening white blooms are among the most beautiful of white dendrobes. I have a clump growing in my garden .

Neither do I, Michael. I personally think it is too heady.

Short-lived I can live with, when short means just a week or two, butwhen short means only one day, that is a real turn-off.
Thanks forthe info, I'll give this a miss.

Beautiful display. Shame it only lasts a day.
