    Not my plant - if only !

    Owned by two fantastic growers in Western Australia, friends of friends of friends... Now in flower, 102 spikes - spend a month counting the flowers ?

    WOW, i would have gave up just on counting the spikes lol. I wonder how many flowers there is and how old the plant is. they must be doing a great job on growing it.

    Great show. Is that growing in a pot? Usually these Speciosums grow as big as this on trees.

    I think I can see the pot - quite a big one , naturally ! It is being grown in Western Australia , maybe 4000km from the place where they grow wild ( on the Eastern seaboard of Oz). I looked at the web-site but there doesn't seem to be any further info available.
    personally I had one of this species - took me about 10 years before it got to flowering size ( from flask) and then the flowers were a poor colour. I junked it.

    absolutely spectacular!
    i just doubt the number of spikes, i've counted 30 something on this pix, which is pretty much half of the plant.

    I count at least 40 and they are hard to distinguish as the color blends them together. I don't doubt the 102 count. And regaurdless, it is a FABULOUS specimen.
