    Default Cattleya orchid NOID--ID Please

Have had this orchid for about 3 yrs and this is the first bloom. 2 spikes with 6 blooms open so far and 5 more buds about to open. Very lightly fragrant. I would appreciate any help you can send my way as far as an ID is concerned. Thanks in advance.

Probably C. Ariel or one of its progeny, but it isn't possbile to ever be certain.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction Kirk, I think it's a pretty close match.

I completely agree with Yew. A better frontal picture of the blooms may help me further, I am collecting the pics. of all blue Cattleyas, may be I can try comparing with those.

That looks more like a bowringiana hybrid to me, like Ariel perhaps, rather than the species. The lip seems too frilly.

I think the photo may be misleading as far as the color is concerned. I see it as a pale lavender with a deeper lavender and yellow throat. Here is a front view.
